Army Physical Training Instructors

PTI Logo

A PTI is a Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC) soldier who is responsible:

to ensure Army personnel are physically conditioned to carryout their every day tasks in barracks and on operations. Soldiers require physical conditioning and maintenance, self defence training as well as sport and recreation. Ensuring soldiers are competent in self defence during pre-deployment, and sustained whilst on operations, will assist in force preservation of the Australian soldier. The conditions on operations can generate increased rates of trauma with physiological injuries. After the pathology and diagnosis, the PTI can rehabilitate soft tissue injury to allow a soldier to return to duties as soon as possible. A PTI plays an integral part in the health, safety and wellbeing of Army personnel as a key element in the retention and human performance of the people we need to defend Australia. There is evidence that highlights that from military historical experience, non-battle casualties resulting from disease and non-combat injuries continued to be the major cause of health problems on operations. The role of the PTI is to assist with the reduction of non-battle injuries.

From Greg Ralph

Dear all,
I have been tasked by COL Jeff Brock to compile a 'Medical Corps history' for 1 Aviation Regiment.
This is to include a list of all pers posted to 1 Avn Regt (inc 161, 162 Recce Sqn and 173 GSS) and the years they were posted there and role. Any historical medical related pictures (exercises/ crash ex's and barracks).
Could you please pass this wide across your networks.
